A molti compositori non è concesso di imprimere il proprio nome su un genere in modo così completo da essere associato per sempre a loro. Astor Pantaleon Piazzolla, nato 100 anni fa oggi l’11 marzo 1921, ha fatto proprio questo con lo stile del tango argentino, mescolando jazz e altri stili per trasformarlo nel suo sofisticato “Nuevo Tango”, che ha conquistato il mondo nonostante allarmasse i tradizionalisti in Argentina, sua terra natia.

It’s not given to many composers to stamp their name on a genre so completely that it’s forever associated with them. Astor Pantaleon Piazzolla, born 100 years ago the 11th March 1921 , did just that with the style of Argentine tango, blending jazz and other styles to turn it into his own sophisticated “Nuevo Tango”, which conquered the world in spite of alarming the traditionalists back home in Argentina.
